Women's Fashion Suits - Making the Best Dressed List

Shopping for women's fashion suits today is a fun and rewarding experience. Because of the wide variety of fabrics and designs, you can find a garment that displays your figure time to best advantage, no matter what the dress up occasion is. In the past, a fashion suit would be donned for almost every trip out of the home. By the 1960s though, there was less emphasis on dressing up to leave the house. At the same time, more women were taking their place in the business world and wearing suits for office attire, just as the men did.

Special Occasions

Suits for women attending special occasions vary a great deal. They can encompass almost every imaginable man made or natural fiber. The designs will be suitable for women of every size and body type. A suit that goes easily from the office to a dinner date in the city is possible. A suit that will travel well is also possible, thanks to the easy care fabrics in today's designs. Finding an appropriate suit to wear for a specific occasion is a matter of deciding what you like and spending the time to try on various suits in your size and color.

Weddings

If you are looking for the ideal garment to wear to the wedding of a friend or family member, women's fashion suits offer a large selection of fabrics, styles and colors so that you will know you are looking your best. Wedding suits can be brighter in color and may be made of brocade, silk, or more costly fabrics. If you have figure challenges, choose a suit that minimizes the problem areas or that calls attention away from the site that is less than perfect. With wise selection of a suit, it doesn't have to be a onetime wear garment.

Historic Changes in Women's Fashion - 1900s - 1960s

Throughout the years, women's fashion and design has always been influenced by history, politics, and location. A woman's status and station in society also affected the types of clothing choices deemed acceptable or expected of her. When taking a look at history, the role of the woman unfolds through popular clothing styles, as revealed through hemlines, layers of clothing, shoes, and overall fashion. Below you will find a collection of significant changes in women's fashion trends starting with the 1900s.

During the 1900s, legs and feet of the woman were rarely seen (unless in the sitting position). This meant that stockings, shoes, and other footwear didn't gain much attention. Clothing and shoes of the time highlighted silk bows, small buckles, and dark colors. Pointed toes and a moderate high heel were in fashion. Women's skirts became narrower after the Civil War and displayed more of a cone-shape rather than a bell. Clothing was heavily starched and "shirtwaists" became the latest style, which were fashioned after men's shirts.

In the 1920s, legs became an asset and showed through the kind of clothing worn during this time period. Hemlines rose and women began to take great interest in flesh-colored stockings and shoes. The expensive silk stocking accompanied evening wear, while ribbed and patterned selections (diamond-cut) became the rage. "Flapper" fashion took over with the Roaring 20s, highlighting floating fabrics, handkerchief hemlines, and girdles.

When the 1930s arrived, women's fashion took a turn back to portraying a more "ladylike" appearance. The clothes were feminine in style - crisp and clean during the day and glamorous by night. More sophisticated shoes emerged, including the strappy open-toed sandal. Additional features of the decade included short-fitted suits and jackets, the "little black dress," and the introduction of nylon.

In the 1940s, World War II took a toll on women's fashion, as leather shoes lessened and certain fabrics were limited. Heavy wooden soles and wedge heels became commonplace. A host of clothing items were rationed - bought using a "coupon" system. Some of the non-rationed items included mending wool, ribbons, lace, suspenders, and clogs. Women began painting their shoes with bright colors or decorating the sides of the soles with small shells or studs to elevate their sense of style.

During the 1950s, glamour took over and it showed in the latest women's fashion designs. Full skirts with petticoats, swoop-line empire dresses, and fancy suits became popular. Many women now wore a stiletto heel and Italian shoes (known for ultra-elegance and refinement). Seamless stockings and beehive hairdos accompanied the clothing of the 50's.

The 1960s brought more freethinking attitudes of the world, including fashion. Skirts became much shorter - leading to the creation of the "mini." Stockings were tossed to the side and pantyhose made an impression on the women of the 60's. Flat boots were worn with very short dresses. Additional fashion introductions of the 60s included psychedelic fabric prints, denim jeans, and the pill box hat. Shoes became chunkier, displaying thicker low heels with rounded or squared toes. Buckle shoes were quite "in" with matching gold or silver heels to match the buckles.

Women's Sunglasses

Today women's sunglasses are more than practical eyewear - their unique styles mean that they are fashion accessories too. A wide range of different frames are available for women to choose from. Furthermore, in addition to selecting the frame design of your choice you are able to choose from a wide range of colored lenses. Fashionable colors for lenses include blue, yellow and pink. However, traditional colored lenses such as those in green or light tan are readily available as are mirrored designs which will provide you with a cool reflective look. Choosing the correct lens is of equal importance to choosing the most suitable type of frame. High quality sunglasses should provide you with optimum protection from UV rays.

Oakley women's sunglasses incorporate this much needed protection from UV rays. For those who like to keep active, the company manufactures a great line of sports sunglasses for shielding your eyes from the sun. They are available in traditional style frames as well as the more modern wrap-around frames. In addition, they carry glasses specifically made for golfers. These glasses feature a highly futuristic design consisting of frames made from black molded plastic complete with reflective lenses that are wrap-around in style. Furthermore, they carry a wide range of styles featuring polarized lenses in fashion, sport and active designs. The brand also features Transitions photochromic lenses.

If you are of a different nationality or origin, standard western fit sunglasses may ride lower on your face. This can make them uncomfortable. Companies like Oakley produce sunglasses in an Asian fit in order to be able to accommodate the fact that women have different face shapes. The frames are of exactly the same high quality and are just as stylish as the other products featured in Oakley's range. While browsing through the wide range of women's sunglasses, you will become aware of companies offering custom designed sunglasses frames. These frames can be personalized with your initials or first name engraved into the frame.

The cost of sunglasses will range greatly, depending on both the manufacturer and place of purchase. If you like to change your fashion accessories as often as you change your outfit, then you will be able to find affordable sunglasses at several major department stores. If you desire a look which is more distinct, designer eyewear is able to be found online and at specialty stores for a much greater price. The style of frame and type of lens that you select should reflect your personality. Your chosen sunglasses should have adequate light filtering abilities to provide good vision in the most dazzling of sunlight. Well chosen sunglasses will not only help improve your vision but will ensure that you look great too.

5 Fashion Tips For Plus Size Women

1. Shop for plus size women's clothing at high end stores and boutiques. Yes, you may end up paying more for clothing then your smaller size friends but it is well worth it. The reality is that plus size clothing needs to be ample in size, well made with a flattering cut, and usually in finer fabrics if you really want that wow factor. It is rare that you can find nice plus size clothing that will last in a big box store. You need to go to the experts.

2. Larger women's clothing doesn't have to look gaudy. Forget the leopard print blouses, they just draw more attention to your figure. Simple lines and neutral colors flatter pluz size women. Choosing classic clothing in browns, blacks, tans, and navy blues will provide an element of class and sophistication.

3. Don't wear baggy plus size clothing. While you may not want to buy form fitting clothes that will accentuate your flaws you do not want to to look like you are wearing a potato sack either. That is no more attractive than super tight clothes! You want to find clothes that fit well, that gather in the right places, and that provide room to move. Finding a balance between loose and form fitting is the key. A blouse that hugs the bust and flows around the arms and waist is one such example.

4. Play up your assets. If you have an ample bosom then try an empire waist dress or top that highlights your bust. If you have an hour glass figure then choose an outfit with a belt or cummerbund. If you have large hips that you want to hide then choose clothing that hugs the waist and flows over the hips. Accentuate your assets and your flaws will automatically become less apparent.

5. When you stumble upon clothing that looks good on you, stick with it! If you bought a gorgeous blouse that is perfect for your full figure then buy a couple more in other colors. The same goes for pants and skirts. A plus size wardrobe can often consist mostly of the same basic elements if you accessorize well with different jewelry, handbags, hats, shoes, and belts.
